Tucked away in Rockbank VIC 3335, Australia, Udupi Flavours In Australia (Dosa Place) brings the comforting taste of South Indian street food to the local dining scene in a way that feels both casual and memorable. The moment the food arrives at the table, it becomes clear why this spot is gaining attention in local reviews and food conversations around the area. The menu focuses on authentic flavors, simple presentation, and satisfying portions that suit both quick dinners and relaxed evening outings.
One of the standout dishes here is the Masala Dosa, which arrives crisp, golden, and generously filled with spiced potato masala. The texture is exactly what dosa lovers look for-lightly crunchy on the outside while staying soft enough to fold effortlessly. Paired with chutneys and sambar, the dish delivers a balanced mix of spice and comfort that feels genuinely homemade. Alongside it, the Masala Puri adds another layer to the experience with its vibrant flavors and street-style character that regular visitors often appreciate.
The menu also caters well to guests looking for hearty evening meals. The Pav Bhaji is rich, buttery, and full of flavor without feeling overly heavy, while the Vada Pav offers that classic Mumbai-style bite that works perfectly as a quick snack or side order during dinner. Every dish feels thoughtfully prepared rather than rushed, which gives the restaurant a welcoming and dependable vibe.
Another highlight that deserves attention is the Filter Coffee. Served hot and aromatic, it rounds out the meal beautifully and adds to the authentic South Indian diner atmosphere. It is the kind of drink that encourages guests to slow down and enjoy the experience instead of simply finishing a meal and leaving.
From a service perspective, the restaurant keeps things simple and convenient. Onsite services make dining straightforward for locals and visitors alike, and credit card payments add extra convenience for customers stopping by after work or during evening outings. The availability of healthy options on the menu is another positive touch, especially for diners searching for flavorful food that still feels balanced.
While the venue does not have a restroom, many guests still appreciate the relaxed environment, approachable service, and food quality that consistently keeps people returning. After a long drive back from the Great Ocean Road, we stumbled upon Udupi Flavours of Australia and it was nothing short of a blessing! The food took us straight back to Bangalore with every bite – the soft and fluffy idlis, the nostalgic Bangalore-style masala puri, and the perfectly crisp ghee roast dosa and Mysore masala dosa were just outstanding. A huge thanks to Daas Pai for his culinary magic – you can truly taste the authenticity and love in every dish. Highly recommend this place to anyone craving genuine South Indian flavours in Australia!

The dosas are perfectly crisp, golden, and bursting with flavour — especially the masala dosa which is cooked to perfection every time. The taste transports you straight to the streets of South India, with rich chutneys and sambar that are simply unmatched. The takeaway experience is smooth and friendly, and the fresh, flavourful food always hits the spot. Whether you’re a dosa lover or just discovering it, this place is a must-try — 5 stars all the way!
I had a dosa today and it was absolutely delicious! The dosa was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft inside, with a beautiful golden colour. The filling was flavorful and well-seasoned, and the chutneys and sambar made it even better. Every bite was fresh, warm, and full of authentic taste. It was so satisfying and one of the best dosas I’ve had. Highly recommended for anyone who loves South Indian food!
As a tourist my friend took me here as I was already missing idli and dosa in just 2weeks ( typical south indian). The taste was amazing. Sitting and eating in car served infront of their home was something we havent experienced in India but it was an experience. If you are in this area pls dont miss this grt spot.
What a hidden gem! We were met with the friendliest hosts who also suggested the vada pav and masala dosa. Hadn’t tried these before but were grateful for such delicious recommendations, and they were even brought out to us dining al-automobile. Good taste of curry leaves and other flavours balanced with precision such that only a chef with years of culinary experience can conjure into their treasures, and this whole experience certainly was one in itself. Thank you for a lovely chat too !
Must must visit, authentic taste you won’t taste any other dosa better than this and at this price. Warm welcome by the owner and there is a standing space to eat and take away packing is also more than excellent. Totally enjoyed and will be planning next visit soon.
As a Singaporean Indian, finding authentic South Indian food abroad isn’t always easy – but at Udipi Flavours in Australia, I truly felt at home. The ghee roast masala dosa was perfectly crisp and flavorful, and the filter coffee was rich, aromatic, and comforting – just the way it should be. The best part was the warm, friendly owners who welcomed us with such genuine hospitality. The food had a real homemade touch, reminding me of meals back home. If you’re looking for authentic South Indian flavors in Australia, this place is an absolute gem!
Too good! So much flavours, fresh food and great service. 100/10, will become a regular here. Hands down to the best South Indian food in Melbourne. P.S. The food smelled and looked too good, got too hungry, so we didn’t take pics before eating
